Surpl analysis
Surpl analysis is our plain-English interpretation of energy and weather data. It helps people understand what the numbers might mean — without replacing official sources.
What it is
When you see “Surpl analysis” on Surpl, that means the text, status, or estimate was produced by Surpl — not by EirGrid, Met Éireann, or any other official body.
We use public data where indicated (for example EirGrid’s open grid feeds and Met Éireann open weather data), apply clear rules and thresholds, and explain the result in everyday language.
What it is not
Surpl analysis is not:
- An official forecast or regulatory warning.
- A guarantee of grid conditions, prices, or savings.
- A substitute for EirGrid or Met Éireann when safety or compliance matters.
For official notices and system alerts, we label EirGrid sources clearly and keep them separate from Surpl’s own summaries.
Where you will see it
Surpl analysis appears across the platform, including:
- Energy signals — grid condition summaries and weather outlook estimates.
- Grid intelligence — interpreted guidance for members and operators.
- Dashboards and flex tools — timing hints based on conditions, always labelled.
Every surface is designed so you can tell official data apart from Surpl’s interpretation at a glance.
How we keep it trustworthy
Our approach is deliberately conservative. We use explicit thresholds for signals like “clean”, “stable”, or “stress” windows, document what data we used, and refresh regularly.
If data is missing or stale, we say so rather than guessing. If a feature is future-facing or depends on regulation, we label it clearly on our roadmap and policy pages.
